Hyperbaric treatment has been touted as somewhat of a medical miracle, through 60 consecutive days of treatment I put it to the test.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has emerged as a potential miracle treatment for various conditions, and recent studies suggest it might even reverse aging. Join me on a 60-day HBOT journey, exploring the science, effects, and potential benefits of this revolutionary therapy.
HBOT involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, facilitating oxygen absorption into the blood plasma. This reduces inflammation, enhances cellular energy production, and promotes healing. Sam Womack from ATX Hyperbarics simplifies the science: "You put the body under pressure, breathe in extra oxygen, and that oxygen becomes a powerful anti-inflammatory."
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, my health took a nosedive, and what I first thought was a mild cold quickly escalated into a health crisis. My body started to shut down, I had lost 10 pounds, I started having panic attacks, I could no longer remember where I was, and started to lose vision in my right eye. I was quickly diagnosed with the autoimmune condition, Hashimoto’s, and after years of various treatments, I committed to a 60-session HBOT protocol in hopes that I could improve my overall health and feel like myself again.
In the initial weeks, the routine felt seamless and the chamber became my sanctuary. I’d sit in the chamber more spacious than I imagined, breathing into an oxygen mask and spending 90 minutes absorbed in deep work. By week three, I noticed significant improvements—feeling lighter, happier, and more motivated. Week 5 brought mental clarity, and the last 20 days proved the most beneficial, leaving me with a bittersweet feeling as the sessions concluded.
Despite its potential, the world of HBOT has concerns, including fraudulent practices and safety issues with different chamber types. Many clinics today are selling take-home soft shell chambers and broadcasting the same benefits as hard shell chambers despite their significant differences. Soft chambers offer less pressure than hard chambers, greatly impacting their effectiveness.
As my 60-session protocol ended, comprehensive blood work and telomere testing revealed several positive results:
HBOT is a growing science with tremendous potential. While not a magic bullet or a one-size-fits-all, with the right combination of diet, lifestyle choices, and medical intervention, anti-aging possibilities are within reach. This powerful therapy will likely go on to save many lives and reduce countless suffering.

While powerful, HBOT is not a universal solution. It shows promise in various conditions, such as wound healing and strokes but individual responses vary.
No. Be cautious of soft shell chambers; their lower pressure significantly impacts effectiveness compared to hard shell counterparts.
Results vary, but many notice improvements within the initial weeks. Consistency is key for lasting benefits.
Generally, yes. However, consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have pre-existing conditions. Certain medical conditions such as respiratory disorders, history of seizures, and pregnant women be excluded from HBOT and in need of careful evaluation before partaking.
Studies suggest positive impacts on aging markers, but it's not a literal fountain of youth. HBOT is said to complement other anti-aging approaches.
